National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
National LGBTQ Task Force advances full freedom, justice and equality for LGBTQ people to build a future where everyone can be free to be their entire selves in every aspect of their lives, including housing, employment, healthcare, retirement, and basic human rights. The Task Force is trains and mobilizes millions of activists across our nation to deliver a world where you can be you.
Trans Formations Project is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to tracking and educating about the anti-trans legislative crisis currently sweeping the United States. Their database is the only resource we know of to effectively compile all information about bills that threaten transgender people and bills that could help transgender people, as well as compile full contact information for all representatives relevant to such bill proposals in order to empower individuals to make tangible change in the fight for transgender rights.
Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression.

National Federation of the Blind LGBT Group is a Facebook group providing a place f discuss matters unique to being both blind and LGBT, to provide mentorship to blind individuals, and to serve as a resource to the Federation.

Queer Botany is an ecocritical project that studies and affirms connections between queerness and nature. The project emerges from the theoretical lens of queer ecology, which brings together queer theory and eco-criticism, and aims to support more diverse representations in the environmental movement and the outdoors.
Outdoorist Oath is is a commitment to action any outdoorist can take to support our planet, inclusion, and adventure. It is designed as a way for any outdoorist or outdoor community to think about the intersections of planet, inclusion, and adventure through their outdoor experiences.

Historical Interpretation & Archives
AASLH’s LGBTQ+ Inclusive Interpretation Resource Kit is meant to help overcome the challenges of, provide an introduction to, and serve as a basic guide for LGBTQ+ interpretation. The kit includes AASLH conference sessions, webinars, books, and technical leaflets on LGBTQ+ interpretation and inclusive interpretation more broadly, as well as award winners whose projects show LGBTQ+ interpretation in practice.
Female Husbands: A Trans History by Jen Manion documents the history of “female husbands” and the women who loved them. Moving deftly from the colonial era to just before the First World War, Jen Manion uncovers the riveting and very personal stories of ordinary people who lived as men despite tremendous risk, danger, violence, and threat of punishment. Female Husbands weaves the story of their lives in relation to broader social, economic, and political developments in the United States and the United Kingdom while also exploring how attitudes towards female husbands shifted in relation to transformations in gender politics and women’s rights, ultimately leading to the demise of the category of ‘female husband’ in the early twentieth century.
The Gay Revolution by Lillian Faderman documents the fight for gay and lesbian civil rights—the years of outrageous injustice, the early battles, the heart-breaking defeats, and the victories beyond the dreams of the gay rights pioneers—is the most important civil rights issue of the present day. In “the most comprehensive history to date of America’s gay-rights movement” (The Economist), Lillian Faderman tells this unfinished story through the dramatic accounts of passionate struggles with sweep, depth, and feeling.
The History Project is the only organization focused exclusively on documenting and preserving the history of New England’s LGBTQ communities and sharing that history with LGBTQ individuals, organizations, allies, and the public.
Making Gay History Podcast brings LGBTQ+ history to life through the voices of the people who lived it. Host Eric Marcus’s decades-old audio archive of rare interviews—conducted for his award-winning oral history of the LGBTQ civil rights movement—to create intimate, personal portraits of both known and long-forgotten champions, heroes, and witnesses to history.
ONE Archives at the USC Libraries is the largest repository of LGBTQ materials in the world. Founded in 1952, ONE Archives houses millions of archival items including periodicals, books, films, videos, audio recordings, photographs, artworks, organizational records, and personal papers. \
A Queer History of the United States by Michael Bronski is more than a “who’s who” of queer history: it is a book that radically challenges how we understand American history. Drawing upon primary documents, literature, and cultural histories, noted scholar and activist Michael Bronski charts the breadth of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history, from 1492 to the 1990s, and has written a testament to how the LGBT experience has profoundly shaped our country, culture, and history.
Museums
American LGBTQ+ Museum preserves, investigates, and celebrates the dynamic histories and cultures of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, as well as those of the emergent and adjacent identities among our communities. Using exhibitions and programs, we seek to advance LGBTQ+ equality through the lens of social justice movements, including, but not limited to, race, gender, class, immigration, and disability.
LGBTQ+ Alliance of the American Alliance of Museums provides a forum for communication and dialogue and is committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and inquiry with particular respect to sexual orientation and gender identity within museums.
LGBTQ+ Museum Staff & Students is an online group providing safe, supportive space for LGBTQ+ museum professionals and students, and build better museums where staff, visitors, and volunteers can be their authentic selves. Initiatives are developed based on the needs of the community, including virtual or in-person meetups, trainings, and resource shares. Hosted by the New England Museum Association.
Research
Williams Institute at UCLA is the leading research center on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. The Institute disseminates its research to policymakers, judges, the media, and other stakeholders to ensure that decisions impacting the lives of millions of LGBT people and families are based on data and facts.

Gender Specialist Rebecca Minor partners with trans and gender nonconforming youth through their journey of becoming and expressing their truth; and a guide to their parents in affirming it.

AAM’s Transitioning Toolkit is intended to prepare institutions, coworkers, and transgender museum (though relevant across sectors) professionals for gender transitions and to better implement transgender inclusion in policies and practices.
Pride at Work is a nonprofit organization that represents LGBTQ union members and their allies, including organizing mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBTQ Community to further social and economic justice.
